Jan Storey of Newcastle Business School (NBS) has received top recognition after being voted the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) 'Post Graduate Student of the Year' following the successful completion of the two-year NBS PART TIME MA Marketing course at NBS.

Jan, from Newcastle, has the dual role of 'Information Specialist' at NBS as well as managing the 'Subject and Liaison Team' for Northumbria University, two positions which she continued to expertly manage while studying part-time for her MA.
Within her role, Jan has access to the entire portfolio of learning information resources, not only for students but for the whole academic team at NBS and university wide.
She ensures resources are readily available and can be easily sourced by students and staff, providing essential support across the whole of Northumbria University.
Her expert advice has helped hundreds and thousands of students achieve their chosen qualifications and benefit from the extensive range of research tools and information updated annually at the university.
Jan commented:
"I'm really proud and honoured to have received such recognition from NBS and the CIM. The hard work and effort was definitely worthwhile as I'm now able to put my knowledge into practice on a day-to-day basis and have an even greater understanding of what the students need when they approach me for advice."
Marketing has long been Jan's passion and she decided to study for an MA after achieving both a diploma in marketing as well as a qualification from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).
"I'm committed to finding the best way to promote our services to students and academic staff and this MA has given me both the confidence and freedom to continue with my development. I've always been interested in both marketing and the promotion of resources, and I feel extremely lucky to enjoy a job that has allowed me to follow both of these paths", Jan added.
Richard Gay, Programme Leader for the MA in Marketing at NBS, said:
"Jan thoroughly deserves the title of 'Post Graduate Student of the Year'. She is a credit to NBS both through her time as a student and in her working role of Information Specialist. Jan's research has ensured that she will continue to bring about positive changes not just to NBS but the whole of Northumbria University.
Resources are fundamental to both staff and students and we're delighted to have someone as dedicated as Jan to continually investigate and upgrade our provision of services.
The MA in Marketing course is a popular one thanks to its mix of seminars, guest speakers and the fact there is plenty of opportunity to put the theory into day-to-day working practice. We're grateful to the CIM for their continued input and for sponsoring the award."
