Organised in conjunction with the North East Branch of the CIPD, a number of students from the regions universities who run CIPD accredited courses, were among the 80+ people whom attended.

The theme of Dean's talk was the rapidly changing environment within which public services are delivered, shifting from Government Owned and Managed towards a Market Oriented or a Regulated environment, along with the implications for HR professionals of growing competition from the private sector and increased regulation, particularly through increasing pressure on budgets, and the introduction of customer choice.

The event was a great success and thanks go to Dean for his well received presentation. The recent success of this event highlights the continuing developments of the NBS guest speaker programme as well as the hard work and achievements of the North East branch of the CIPD.
