A Wide Variety of Programmes
Newcastle Business School is particularly experienced at developing completion awards aimed at students like you
with sub-degree qualifications such as a Foundation degree or HND. Most of our completion awards take one year to complete (full time) which means that, just months from entering university, you could be walking away with a recognised business degree.
Students with the appropriate qualifications may also gain entry with advanced standing to our other business degree courses and with such a wide variety available, you're bound to find a programme that matches
your particular goals and ambitions.
Business Creation - Programme Information
Do you have plans to create your own business? Have
you completed a foundation degree or BTEC HND in
any vocationally related discipline and want to develop
your skills further while at the same time gaining a
valuable degree qualification? If so, this could be the
ideal programme for you. Over the course of one year
you will work alongside, entrepreneurs, mentors and
other support services together with teaching staff from across Northumbria University.
Students are assessed via a range of practical tasks aimed at developing your understanding of, and competence in, key areas of Business Planning, Strategic Planning, Managing People, Marketing, Design and Creativity and Financial Management.
Alongside the development of an achievable plan for students' future business, the programme aims to develop your understanding of entrepreneurship and the skills needed to run a business. It specifically focuses on the following key areas:
- Human Resource Management
- Strategy and Leadership
- Financial Management for Small Business
- Creativity Design and Marketing
- Graduate Enterprise
A key aspect of this programme is the involvement of
entrepreneurs in its delivery. In addition, students creating their own business have the ability to work with the University's Hatchery after graduation.
Coursework and Assessment
Unlike more traditional undergraduate programmes, this highly practical degree assesses students performance through a range of tasks directly related to creating and managing a new business. This centres on the creation of a business plan and personal portfolio giving you, as a student, the opportunity to demonstrate and critically evaluate your skills as a future entrepreneur.

This programme is all about developing your ability to create and run your own successful business. Additionally, all the skills acquired on this programme are in high demand by employers looking for resourceful and creative managers, providing you with a broad range of options on completion.
