Programme Information

Corporate Management is an exciting and innovative programme aimed at high calibre people with business management potential. It takes a fresh approach to business education by combining study at Newcastle Business School with salaried employment enabling students to graduate debt-free with two years invaluable 'hands-on' business experience.

Research has shown that as well as technical knowledge,
employers particularly value skills such as:

  - The ability to work under pressure
  - Action planning skills
  - Communication skills
  - IT skills
  - Networking capability
  - Team-working
  - Self-confidence
  - Self-management skills
  - Willingness to learn

The programme is specifically designed to develop these skills and enhance career prospects from a very early stage. By developing appropriate skills, competencies and knowledge in the context of a responsible role in a business organisation, student development is accelerated, equipping graduates for early career
progression in business management.

The degree is delivered over three years. The second and third include salaried employment along with study blocks at the University. Individual student profiling is used in the early stages to assist in identifying particular development needs. This provides a focus for personal development during the remainder of the programme.

During Year 1 students work in small groups on a 'live' project with a partner organisation which gives the opportunity to start developing managerial capability at an early stage.

The degree is aimed at high achieving, motivated students who are looking for a prestigious academic degree from a reputable business school. We are looking for first-class applicants with strong academic skills with the potential for employment in a business after just one year.

Previous participants on the programme have enjoyed a wide range of interesting and challenging experiences in their employer organisations and have been assigned responsibility for managing a wide variety of projects and business initiatives while studying on the course.

Gaining valuable work experience whilst learning provides the opportunity for early career advancement at graduation. Previous students have even achieved promotion whilst still studying for their degree.
