Course Information
Pathways
- Human Resource Management and Development
- Human Resource Development and Learning
- MA in Human Resource Management and Development
Students on the programme will engage with principles and theories of Human Resource Management and Development. This includes frameworks for reviewing, reflecting, analysing and critiquing existing individual and organisational practices as well as providing knowledge and skills, enabling enhanced and more appropriate practices to be developed. Developing students as managers to maximise the performance of the organisations, whilst recognising people as the most important organisational resource, underpins the philosophy.
Students may obtain a Masters award by continuing their studies and undertaking a dissertation (MA in Human Resource Management and Development).

Masters Stage
Successful Postgraduate Diploma holders may convert to the MA through the completion of a dissertation. This will be up to 15,000 words in length and requires participants to apply and extend their knowledge through the examination of a clearly defined 'researchable question'.
Participants will be required to select and apply appropriate research methods and to attend a dissertation preparation and research methods programme to facilitate this process.
Participants will be supported by a personal research supervisor, and the timescale for completion is normally two semesters part-time.
Accreditation
Both Diploma routes enable successful students to become graduate members of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). Those wishing to become graduate members must register with the Institute as student members.
Careers
The programme increases the employment potential of those wishing to move into a Human Resource environment or progress within the field.
