Completion Awards
Whether you're eager to extend existing knowledge and skills, expand career choices, or even take a total change
of direction in your studies, you will be giving yourself a generous head-start on the career ladder with a range of
business qualifications that are recognised not only in the UK, but across the world.
A Wide Variety of Programmes
Newcastle Business School is particularly experienced at developing completion awards aimed at students like you
with sub-degree qualifications such as a Foundation degree or HND. Most of our completion awards take one year to complete (full time) which means that, just months from entering university, you could be walking away with a recognised business degree.
Students with the appropriate qualifications may also gain entry with advanced standing to our other business degree courses and with such a wide variety available, you're bound to find a programme that matches
your particular goals and ambitions.
International Hospitality and Tourism Management - Programme Information
This one-year degree completion programme has been
established in response to demand from existing and
potential BTEC HND and Foundation Degree (or
equivalent) holders.
Specifically aimed at preparing students for managerial posts in the hospitality and tourism industries, its core compulsory modules provide a clear understanding of the management challenges facing managers in this sector. The programme also includes option choices, plus a dissertation, enabling students to focus on their own particular area of interest.
Subjects Studied
- International Hospitality Management
- Key Issues for Hospitality and Tourism Managers
- Strategic Management and Leadership
- Ethics
- Professional Development Project
Coursework and Assessment
A variety of teaching and assessment methods are used
throughout the programme including lectures, seminars and group exercises. The aim is to help students become effective independent learners equipped with practical skills and competencies. Each module is assessed separately through a combination of coursework, examinations and a dissertation. The dissertation will be completed under the guidance of a dissertation tutor.
Careers
The programme is designed for graduates seeking management posts in the International Hospitality Sector in particular or more widely within the Tourism Industry generally. Given the business studies orientation of the degree however, graduates are also able to seek broader recruitment opportunities with non-hospitality and tourism industry employers. Many successful graduates from this programme go on to study the Masters in International Travel and Hospitality Management.
