Course Information
Are you looking to accelerate your rise up the career ladder and be placed directly into a senior position on leaving university?
Would you like the opportunity to study for a programme that focuses exclusively on moulding you into a highly employable individual with a substantial head-and-shoulders advantage over others?
The new one-year Masters (MA) in Management Practice is the first Masters programme in the UK to offer an integral placement element. It is different from anything else out there - innovative, up-to-the-minute and highly relevant to business - designed and developed by Newcastle Business School with input from a consortium of first class partner companies.
From the start, both delivery and content is tailored specifically to the needs of the individual employer and student. Everyone benefits: you, from a tailored hands-on learning experience; and the company, from working directly with a business graduate with a precise employee profile.
It has never been more important to ensure that business and management education is relevant to employers. You will emerge as a fully trained, high performing individual ready for senior management, with no further training required - someone that can make a full contribution to an organisation from day one.
In a fiercely competitive job market, this career-focussed programme gives you an unbeatable head start. The result is that while traditional Masters graduates are seeking their first managerial position, you could be seeking your first promotion.
Programme Strcuture
The new Masters in Management Practice is the first Masters programme in the UK to offer a placement element - in this instance comprising 9-12 months. It is totally unique and also highly distinct in its entry criteria and characteristics, focussing strongly on developing skills and enhancing employability.
As a result, the programme is structured around a tripartite relationship between the student, employer mentor and NBS supervisor.
The pre-placement element in the first quarter focuses around orientating the student to the work-based learning philosophy through lectures and tutorials. The placement, which comprises the remainder of the year, trains you for the world of management with a unique opportunity to put theory into hands-on, contextual practice.
The entire learning process during this period (including a self-managed dissertation) is tailored to the company's needs and provides you with the opportunity to display your intellectual skills, critical analysis, synthesis and reflection. Each placement is different, depending on the needs of the employer mentor and individual student.
Careers
Graduates should be well equipped for a rewarding business career across a range of industry sectors. This Masters programme benefits from a unique placement element - the first of its kind in the UK - and, as a result, will prove highly attractive to prospective employers.
