Forty final-year students from Newcastle Business School (NBS) visited Beamish Open-Air Museum in County Durham this month as invited guests of the Director of the attraction.
The Travel, Tourism and Hospitality students surveyed the 300-acre attraction as part of their module on Heritage, Culture and Arts in Tourism.
NBS offers a range of undergraduate degrees, completion courses and masters level programmes in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality.
Dr. Hans-Christian Andersen attended the visit with the students. Hans-Christian said:
"The students were given the chance to learn about best practice in attractions management at the world renowned visitors attraction."
Jacqueline Holland, Programme Leader at NBS added:
"The fact that the museum is prepared to invite such a large number of NBS students says something about the value which they put on helping to train future tourism managers. It is also beneficial for our international students to see how things are done in the UK"
NBS's approach to learning is based around theory into practice. This visit gave the students a fantastic opportunity to see for themselves how the theory learnt in the classroom is used in the successful management of a major modern visitor attraction.
