Twenty nine year old Sarah, from Whitley Bay, North Tyneside was awarded the title of North East postgraduate student of the year by the Chartered Institute of Marketing after successfully completing the part-time marketing course.

In addition to her recent appointment as account director and deputy head of office at Golley Slater PR in Newcastle, Sarah has just been elected Chair of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations North East group and continues to draw upon the knowledge she gained whilst at NBS.

Sarah said: "The part-time Masters in Marketing was a great way to develop both personally and professionally and I'm really glad I took the plunge. The course has reinforced my confidence in my own abilities and knowing I have both media and marketing qualifications reassures colleagues and clients that I know exactly what I'm talking about and can plan and deliver effective, results-driven campaigns.

The modules were delivered via a range of lectures, seminars and workshops and the teaching staff always tried to make sessions enjoyable and interactive, which helped keep my concentration after a long day at the office. I would strongly recommend the course to anyone who is new to marketing and wants a solid grounding and to those, like me, who want to further expand their existing knowledge."

Dean of NBS, Paul Croney said: "NBS offers a range of part-time courses which are all designed to develop existing knowledge, enhance skills and provide the theory to enable employees to make a positive impact in the workplace. We are committed to providing a range of part-time programmes which fit the educational and training needs of professionals, like Sarah, in businesses across the North East."
