Introduction to part-time study at Newcastle Business School
Students opt for part-time or distance learning for a variety of reasons. Many are working towards qualifications designed to fulfil their potential within existing organisations. Others choose to study part-time in order to broaden their horizons and boost career prospects.
Newcastle Business School also welcomes internationally-based students for whom UK campus-based study simply isn't feasible. Plus we offer an exciting portfolio of management programmes for the British Army designed to enable NCOs to compete with civilian candidates when they leave.
Not all our part-time and distance programmes require traditional academic qualifications. Often real-world management experience or professional qualifications can be just as important.
Flexibility is key
What all our part-time and distance learning programmes have in common is that they are highly flexible. Students can continue working whilst they study which makes them perfect for today's busy professional.
Whether you choose to study on campus or online, you enjoy exactly the same world-class teaching resulting in a recognised qualification from Newcastle Business School.
And of course, you are very welcome to come along to accept your qualification in person at our annual graduation ceremony!
Part-time (campus-based)
A part-time programme could be just what you need to boost your career prospects. We offer a broad range of programmes from certificates through to degrees, MAs and our 'flagship' business programme -
The Newcastle Business School MBA.
Our Corporate and Management Development Centre also develops bespoke programmes on behalf of our many corporate partners.
Distance learning
Distance learning enables you to study at your own pace. Within a semester structure, and within limits, there is often the flexibility to dip in and out to suit you.
Although some programmes offer residential elements (which are excellent ways to meet other like-minded students), there is often no need to visit our UK campus at all.
But no matter where you are based, you are never alone. The online environment is highly supportive with continuous interaction with tutors and peers through virtual seminars and online discussion groups.
Distance learning is probably one of the simplest ways to study. All you need is an internet-connected PC, your course material (which is provided on CD-ROM and via our distance learning delivery platform) and the support of your online tutors.

Be part of our future
It's a very exciting time to be at Newcastle Business School. In September 2007, Newcastle Business School relocated to a brand new 100 million pound state-of-the-art building adjacent to Newcastle City Centre and Northumbria University's main campus, which has been refurbished and landscaped to form one huge unified campus.
As well as being a prominent landmark within the city and the university, the new building offers a world class learning and social facility for all students.
